The Sacramento Lowrider Commission is a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to celebrating and preserving lowrider culture, art, and community. Founded in 2022, our mission is to honor the rich history of lowriding—art on wheels—while elevating its artistic contributions and empowering diverse communities through cultural advocacy.
A Legacy of Advocacy & Historic Achievements
Our leadership team includes passionate lowrider advocates with decades of experience dating back to the 1980s. We have made history, breaking barriers and driving change:
- First in the Nation – In May 2022, we successfully led efforts to repeal city and county "No Cruising" ordinances in Sacramento, setting a precedent for other communities.
- Statewide Advocacy – We played a key role in legislative efforts, including:
- ACR 176 – Proud sponsor, Recognizing lowriding as an important cultural tradition.
- AB 436 – Groundbreaking state legislation SLC authored and helped pass with the California Lowrider Alliance, Lowrider community and legislative supporters.
- Founding the California Lowrider Alliance – A coalition of 21 cities working together to protect and promote lowrider culture statewide.
- Miller Regional Park Recognition – A Historic Tribute to Lowrider Culture: Spearheaded the renaming of a street in Miller Regional Park to "Lowrider Lane," cementing Sacramento's legacy as a hub for lowriding and ensuring its cultural impact is honored for generations to come.
Deep Community Engagement
Lowrider culture thrives through community involvement. Every year, we "The Lowrider Community" actively hold /support over 80–100 events, including:
- Givebacks, educational workshops, and cultural celebrations, drawing attendees from Greater Sacramento, across the state, and beyond.
- 1,500+ volunteer hours the Lowrider Community dedicates annually, engaging people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Annual participation in key cultural events across Greater Sacramento.
Positive Economic Impact
The Sacramento Lowrider Commission contributes significantly to the local and state economy by: Boosting Tourism, Our cultural events attract thousands of visitors, generating increased revenue for local businesses, hotels, and restaurants. Supporting Small Businesses, Our events provide a platform for vendors, artisans, and food entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products, fostering economic growth. Job Creation – Through partnerships and educational programs, we create opportunities in the automotive, arts, and cultural sectors. Youth Workforce Development, By engaging young people in STEAM education and automotive innovation, we prepare them for careers in engineering, sustainability, and mechanics.

This educational curriculum, shared by SLC, is designed to be offered across a variety of educational platforms.
We are committed to merging lowrider culture with Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education while ensuring that youth are better prepared to pursue career paths in emerging automotive technologies. While we embrace new advancements, we recognize that classic lowrider builds remain vital to preserving the culture, craftsmanship, and artistry of the automotive world.
Our projects include:
- Electric Lowrider High School Project – Bringing the future of lowriding to life by converting classic lowriders into electric-powered vehicles. This hands-on experience equips youth with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the evolving automotive industry while still honoring and preserving the traditional craftsmanship of classic car builds, which remain an essential part of lowrider culture.
